I'm one hundred percent with you on this one. Such proliferating emails just clog up the internet and slow everthing down, as far as I can see. Perhaps you could write one polite, 'declining to participate' message, and email everyone in your addressbook?! You never know, they might take the hint...

I rarely if ever, ever forward them, but every once in a while I'll get one that gives me a tickle or chuckle and I don't mind sharing it with a friend or two that I know feels the same way that I do. And I do tend to feel the same way about blog awards, I've gotten several that I was willing to respond to, but mostly I just thank whoever sent it and let them know that I rarely participate and not to take it personally. I have a lot of things that I truly enjoy doing online, but most are related to my blog and that's it.

I wanna be in COB too..I think the company would be great there. I edit all my email..it takes a long time, and I don't do those nasty..send to ten friends in ten minutes or you will die a painful death or bust a fingernail.. IF it is one worth sending along, I delete the send on and return info. I don't do blog awards either..just gets to be too much..and what do they really mean anyway:(

I absolutely HATE the chain letters. And even worse, are the religious ones. Hey, I'm a good Catholic girl, I know, snort, hard to believe if you read my blog, LOL, but, growing up Catholic means I KNOW WHAT GUILT IS. I HATE, HATE, HATE them. I have two friends who keep sending them and it got to the point where I deleted anything from their address before I even read it.
As regards awards though, (Alan), I rather like getting them, as they sometimes provide a fun post to write about and a chance to share my bloggy friends, but my list of bloggers I feel close enough with to pass them on to is limited and I've already included them before, so then it does feel a little like a sophisticated chain letter.

I don't like chain e-mails either Sunny, although I do read the beautifully expressed ones I might receive from a friend, but I'm not big on passing them on, just like blogging awards, I will kindly accept if given so as not to offend, but I acknowledge that I choose not to pass them along.
