Funny story and sadly true for too many women.
I love my grey hair which I have had since my 50's. It doesn't affect my health or my ability to do things and has a lot of pluses.
I never have to ask for the senior discount, it is automatic, doors are always opened for me by both men and women accompainied by sweet smiles, I am never broken down on the side of the road long before there is help, and I still get winked at by codgers.
Hope she learns to relax and enjoy.

This is so funny Sunny. Sorry to say that gray hair is a fact of life, like it or not. I know its a trite saying but...you are really only as old as you feel. I think your friend Viv would think I was ancient!!

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. I love this blog!! I had 6 sliver (I like sliver better than gray) hairs when I was in high school!! I have died my hair for many years and just this past year I have let my silver hair grow out and have gotten many compliments from people I don't even know.
Age is all in attitude. I feel young so I am young!!

I came by for a lurk and laughed like crazy! Thanks so much. I have to say, your friend? She'd hate being me as my hair is completely silver at 54 and I made the decision this year to live with it instead of attempting every three weeks to keep it what it was in my youth!

Your post on the glasses??? OMG! Hysterical. Just last week, I gave in and for the first time in my life am wearing glasses and went straight to progressive lenses, do not pass go; do not collect $200! I got tired of glasses everywhere and the off and on off and on!

So silver hair, glasses for the first time! Oy!

I have no problem with my gray hair, but I do have a problem with my husbands gray hair. Mine is straight and stiff and hard to manage, still a little brown in there. HIS is as white as white can get, curly AND soft AND manageable. he washes it and combs it with his fingers for pete's sake. When we are walking, people say as they go by, Nice hair and I KNOW they are not talking to me. Little old ladies,older than ME follow his with their eyes and I know what they are thinking. I wish my hair was like that.

A funny post and your last sentence makes me smile. I don't know if your grandmother was right in a certain way yes because when one grey hair appears other indubitably follow !
It is necessary to have a positive attitude regarding the grey hair or the coming old age.
A very good friend of mine (an elderly lady 97 years old !) told me one day you do not have to say you are old, you must say you are not young anymore. She never complained regarding her age or her health. That is a positive attitude, don't you think ?

I knew a woman once whose home colour job went horribly wrong (back in the 60s) and only dying her hair grey - or silver - could fix it. It suited her and looked so elegant on her that she kept that colour for years! She must have been in her early 40s at the time.

Too funny but also probably a very common reaction by many women. I had a cousin that started going gray at sixteen, now for her it was a shock.

As for me, only my stylist knows for sure!!!
