That reminds me of the old bat who works in our local supermarket!

Reading your tale, several exclamations come to mind, but, being a lady, I wouldn't say them lol.
At a local (different one) Safeway shop, new staff were told there were two rules -
Rule No 1 - The customer is always right.
Rule No 2 - If the customer is wrong, see rule number 1.

Wow, I have never had to deal with such rude people. If I had, I would not go back or would notify management. You would think with all the job shortages that only the cream of the crop would be waiting on us. Guess not.

There really is no excuse for bad customer service like that. It doesn't matter how good the sale is if you end up all stressed out just getting the advertised price. Sounds like time to take your business to another store, although that isn't always possible if that's possible.

I so dislike when that happens, where did the service go?? I had a similiar experience with rotten meat recently and asked to see the manager. He immediately refunded my money...after I had discussed the fact that I did not eat the meat and bring the labels back with the clerk.
I have to give service with my job and I expect it as a consumer.

I've found that if the machine doesn't tell them what to do they are lost...kinda like having a teleprompter. I had a girl at McDonalds ask the supervisor to make change for 2 sundaes that came to under $2 and I gave her the $2..the power was off and the machine didn't have the answer..no one is learning the basics in school anymore.

Even with sales, I would never set foot in that store again. In fact, I would write the corporate office --and tell them this story. There's no excuse with them acting like this.

I am like you (use coupons, buy specials, even went to FOUR grocery stores this week to save money).. One of my favorite stores is Kroger's. They have made a few mistakes --but when I go back to get them corrected, they NEVER question me. They are very nice and give me back my money immediately. That's just GOOD business.

Find a new store--but remember to complain to someone 'above' the people you talked to. There's just no excuse in that kind of treatement.

I've had nightmare days like that and always wonder just what it was? Did I not explain myself clearly? No, not the case. Did I misread the signs? No, not the case! All I know is that the mentality of some clerks, particularly in grocery stores, seems to be somewhat lacking! And as for customer service??? No, I don't think so!

Oh my goodness, that is outrageous!! I think that clerk should find another job!
I must say I enjoy going food shopping and I love putting it all away on the shelves when I get home.
I do not however like to check out myself. Something always goes wrong.
