I really don't mind moving. Other than with my parents I've never lived in one place for more than a few years. We bought our first house together just four years ago and if hubby got transferred to another city it would be fine with me. It's not that I don't like it here I just like to see new places.

I don't think it has anything to do with age... I hate moving too. A couple of months ago my family moved to our new house. It is a process. A long process. I know how you feel about old pieces. Each of them holds a special memory, so you don't like to throw it away, because in a way it's like throwing away a part of yourself. :)

I just sorted out some stuff today. :) That's why I enjoyed reading your post so much. No matter who or where we are in this world, certain things will always unite us... :)

Oh, yes, I hate moving too. We moved into this house two years ago, and even though it was just across town there was still lots of sorting to do. I got rid of lots of stuff, but looking around you would never know it. One thing I'm pretty sure of is that we won't be moving again anytime soon. My husband is just putting the finishing touches on his big dream shop. That will keep him happy for a good long while, probably until we're ready for the old folks home, and that surely won't be for a year or two anyway.

Great post and boy have I been there. Moving does clear the mind and closets. When I moved here my "toss" pile went out to the road for the trash man. He never saw any of it though for everytime I took a new load out, the old one was gone. I was making someones day and swore they were hiding in the bushes for I never saw the receipient of my cast offs.

In some way I like to move... because I love to go thru closets and drawers, stuffed away boxes and all and THROUGH a lot of "could-come-handy-one-day" stuff that never comes handy :o) I feel lighter after :o) I dont like packing the last things because nothing fits in the holes left in the boxes and its mostly things you still need up until the last day...
After moving I always have 3-4 boxes with stuff that I dont know where to put, and they remain in the middle of the room for months...

I hope we don't have to move again---but I will say that moving does force me to get rid of stuff which I wouldn't do ordinarily. SO---I guess moving is good for all of us, some of the time. Just don't make me do it often!!!! ha

An excellent post and I can relate to it so much. I am an organizer also. My family makes fun of my packing and sorting. I also have clothes spewing into many other closets. I have donated and tossed out, but I still have too many. It is so hard to let go of some things. I have the various size wardrobes also. I think it must be a woman thing. My husband could care less about clothes.

Oh, I do so relate! I've moved so many times I can't even count them anymore and each time I get rid of more and more stuff! Sometimes I think that I wake up in the morning and look around trying to make sure where I am today. And whether it is age or not, I really don't want to move anymore -- been there, done that, just a few times too many. But with the world like it is today -- who knows what tomorrow brings????
