Walkers and handrails and new dental fittin's,
Bundles of magazines tied up with string,
These are a few of my favorite things.
Cadillacs, cataracts, hearing aids, glasses,
Polident, Fixodent, false teeth in glasses,
Pacemakers, golf carts and porches with swings,
These are a few of my favorite things.
When the pipes leak,
When the bones creak,
When the knees go bad,
Then I remember my favorite things
and then I don't feel so bad
Hot tea and crumpets,
and corn pads for bunions,
No spicy hot food
and no food with onions,
Bathrobes and heat pads
and hot meals they bring,
These are a few of my favorite things.
Back pains,
confused brains,
and no fear of sinnin',
Thin bones and fractures
and hair that is thinnin'.
And we won't mention our short shrunken frames
When we remember our favorite things.
When the joints ache,
When the hips break,
When the eyes grow dim,
Then I remember the great life I've had,
And then I don't feel sooo baaad.

Thanks for brightening a rainy day. I smiled my way through it, but I'm afraid there is entirely too much truth in it for me.
I sang along! Even if it is just a bit advanced for me (not even reached forty yet, me!). I loved the false teeth in glasses, it immediately brought back memories of my grandparents coming to stay and sleeping in my room, leaving their teeth in glasses in the one bathroom we had! Yikes...
Well, needless to say, it definitely struck a chord with me and, like your other readers, I was singing and smiling -- ruefully, as it's just all too true. But I shouldn't complain, I do pretty well for an old broad!
Have a great weekend, Sunny!

Sounds all too familiar. Funny but kinda depressing. The golden years. Huh??
This is brilliant! cheers to your friend for sharing this, and for you passing it on to us.
Love Granny
Unfortunately, this is not premature for me, turning 67 in two months from now. But I spend the money at the dentist to keep my own teeth, but the joints, dim eyesight, well... it goes with the territory, Sunny. They say old age ain't for sissies, and I can second that!
Like George commented...Thanks... but no thanks...Do not want to visualize all that just yet...not quite ready! That was funny though!
I sang along as well, not quite to that point yet. It did give me a smile.
Have a great weekend,
Judy
Oh my, I think I have experienced a lot of these things. But my cataract surgery helped my eye to see things clearer and brighter and in a few weeks I'm having the other one done, so everything should look wonderful again. Just wish some of the joints could feel new again.
Cute, Sunny. I've heard this one---and think it's incredible. Unfortunately, to much of it is true for me these days.
Hugs,
Betsy
Actually I sang it in front of my Dad and it made him smile.

I have an uncle who used to take out his teeth to scare us kids when we were little!
SO FUNNY!
Blessings!
Oh, dear, too much of that is true! Very cute though.
Can relate only too well. However,
"and no fear of sinnin'," probably hurts the most :) Thanks for the chuckle.
Well I sang it all the way through.....lol ......glad you couldn't hear me!!!!
Sound all to real..funny..but real:)
Got to laugh even though it rings true as we get older and things start wearing out. Thanks for the laugh.
