My ‘cranks’ started when I in advertently overrode a photograph I was saving and ended up losing the first one completely!
Next, my printer has decided that it no longer wants to print. It’s one of those 3-way deals, fax, scanner and printer. Well it hasn’t worked right since I installed in on my husband’s computer and I know it has something to do with the drivers not being compatible with Vista. You would think that downloading new drivers would solve the problem…HA! Now I get a message that my computer and printer are not communicating! It popped a box on my screen with what I could try in order to resolve the problem; unplug USB from PC, unplug USB from printer, unplug printer from power, turn printer on, reboot PC, stand on one foot and whistle Dixie! Of course this has to happen right when I have a pile of things that need to be scanned and printed! And of course, it didn’t work!
Contributing to my irritable frame of mind is when I reached for something in the bathroom cupboard and noticed that the skin on my hand looks like crepe paper…what’s up with that?
Spending the past hour on the phone punching one for English, and two for non-existent customer service representatives, holding for eternity all whilst garbled music blasted my eardrums, certainly has not helped my mood.
Autumn is tapping on my window, enticing me to walk in the sunshine but I’m up to my ears in paperwork, computer woes and skin crinkling before my eyes!
Don’t you just love Mondays?

I know how you feel. I tried drying may hands under one of those hot-air drying things and it was blowing all the flesh away from my hands in waves like in some horror movie. Old age is wonderful isn't it.
Oh, my yes...
I hate Vista. And, these niggling little stupid things.
Walk away from it. Even if you just go stand outside for five minutes. Walk away and come back.
HUGS!!!!
Ah the electronic blues have got you. I agree with Holly, walk away and enjoy the day. It will all wait on you.
Alan cracked me up. Me too, me too. I can rationalize away most things but those darn hands.
Oh, I do so relate!!! I just spent 3 hours in the dentist's chair getting a root canal, the weather has turned chilly and gray -- can't even go take some photos -- well, you get the picture! And it is time to go take a walk, but now it's started raining! As for the hands -- mine look more like prunes than usual! So, I guess I'll sit at the computer and whine -- something I'm extremely talented at!
Surely we'll have a better day tomorrow and we can go back to being our sunny, funny selves!
Here's to tomorrow!!
Sylvia
Sounds like you need one of those "Calgon take me away moments". I sure hope the day gets better for you.
Having an Apple means no Vista. We are waiting for a couple more revisions before getting Snow Leopard OS, but I've never been happier since I left Microsoft standing in the dust... Sunny, you can write, girlfriend. I was THERE with you looking at your crepe-like hands. Sending you some additional sunshine.
I thought I was having a bad day until I read all of your woes! Now I feel a little better, but not much!
It sounds like you guys have all got a dose of Autumn blues. However I can relate to telephone frustrations, I'm in the middle of one right now.
You mean it was Monday?
Damn.
:)
My solution is the same as DJan.... Get a MAC... I used PC's for years until I met George. Now we both have IMacs and I now have an MacBook laptop... They are wonderful. I used to have problems with my PC constantly --like you are having. NO MORE. Get a Mac--Sunny!!!!!
We all have days like that ---and they don't even have to be on Monday... Sometimes I just walk away from the problem --and take a walk.. That's a cure for everything.
Hugs,
Betsy
Computers can be infuriating. More and more we're getting sucked into them. I have my cranky days too, but aspire to be as your name suggests: Sunny. It's a work in progress.
Oh Sunny...I swear I'm not laughing...honest...I feel for you...Husband and I switched computers...what I thought was an afternoon deal turned into 3 days of rerunning wires, making things compatable and lots of tweaking...plus, my hands don't look so good either!
Smiles,
Wanda
Oh, I am sorry.
I bought a printer at a yard sale - I know, but it was only $5. Today I finally bought the ink and USB cable to hook it up. $95 later and it is all up and running beautifully. No problems. I was in shock. Still am, actually, and a bit prepared for it all to fall apart tomorrow.
Oh, yes, I can relate. I just got a new laptop to travel with, and so a router sounded like a good idea, but so far I haven't managed to get it to work with my old desktop. So, a trip back to the computer store to figure out what I need to do. Then I still need to load things onto the new laptop. Maybe I just need a nap instead!
And of course the wrinkly hands, oh, my, when did that happen anyway?
I dont know if it makes you feel any better, but I have the same problems... Is yours an HP too? It does scan and transfer it to the computer, but it is impossible to print anything... I gave up!
Things like this wouldn't be so bad if they only happened on Mondays. Betsy mentioned that I got her onto Macs. I have a 3-way HP attached to my Mac and haven't had any problems.
OMG! I've been there and done that! These computers are just wonderful, but when something goes wrong, they can be a real pain in the butt! I've gotten so angry when something goes wrong, and I can't fix it, I have to get up and walk away! It makes me nuts!
However, when something does go wrong and I can't fix it myself, I can call a good friend of mines, Daughter, and she'll either tell me what's wrong or come over and fix it . . . for a slight charge, of course.
BTY - Nice music! After Sunset.
Mommy gets cranky all the time. She has lots to do and not enough time to do it. Humans don't have it easy like us dogs.
I hope your Tuesday was better!
This is why we refuse to get Vista, we have stayed with XP. We build our own computers so we aren't stuck with whats on the shelf which usually is loaded with Vista.
We have a dell in our office with XP, also have HP Printer, Fax, Scanner combo.....everything was fine until I got DSL....now I cannot send or receive a fax...rings but doesn't receive...my husband says "fix it" duh, I don't know how!!!!! Any ideas????
Hi Everyone,
Thank you for your comments and suggestions.
My printer is a Dell, it was hooked to my computer with XP Pro and worked like a charm. My computer crashed and I hooked printer up to my husband's computer which has Vista, the copier worked and the printer but not the scanner. So I went to Dell website and downloaded drivers for Vista and now nothing works! It keeps saying that there is no communicaton between the PC and printer.
I have worked with computers for years but cannot resolve this. I'll go back to tackling it tomorrow!
Nanny, I would contact whoever your DSL provider is. You may need a filter on your fax line, if you don't have one.
Sunny :)
